| THE EXCELSIOR CLASS | Late in the 23rd century, the Excelsior-class starship replaces the earlier Constitution class as the flagship of Starfleet. The first Excelsior-class vessel, the U.S.S. Excelsior NX-2000, is launched in 2284, equipped with an experimental transwarp drive. When transwarp drive is proven to be unsuccessful, the ship is refitted with standard warp technology and relaunched as the U.S.S. Excelsoir NCC-2000. Space Nine Episode: Homefront - Paradise Lost While on Earth in 2372, amid concers about a possible threat to Earth from the founders of the Dominion, Captain Benjamin Sisko and Security Chief Odo of Deep Space Nine go aboard the U.S.S. Lakota to discuss the situation with Commander Benteen and Admiral Leyton. Sisko has temporarely been made head of Starfleet Security. The U.S.S. Lakota NCC-42768 is one of a handful of Starfleet vessel given the dubious mission of firing on a friendly ship. Its unwitting crew form part of a plot by Admiral Leyton, an influential figure at Starfleet Headquarters on Earth, to prevent a planned military coup in 2372 being exposed. |

Erika Benteen acts as Admiral Leyton's trusted aide on Earth. He promotes her to captain of the Lakota. The treasonous crew of the Lakota incur heavy casualties, and Captain Benteen's fate remains unknown. |
Han Freeman
On Stardate 98010.1, Vice-Admiral Rumey took over the job of Admiral Sterlev. Promoted to Admiral, Rumey has considered about Captain Freeman's request. Now Captain Freeman takes command of the 3rd starship: U.S.S. Lakota under Federation's Shadow Operation Department. On Stardate 99010.1, Captain Freeman transferred to U.S.S. Constitution during major internal refit of USS Lakota. On stardate 10006.1, Captain Freeman returns to Lakota. |
